First it was Amazon. Then Block. Now, it's Meta.
The companies have a clear plan. But do YOU?
Before it's *your* company next, here's what you need to ask yourself:
1) Am I playing to my STRENGTHS? 💪
👉 AI is great at doing 50th-percentile work - not so much *90th-percentile.* If you want to stay ahead of the pack, make sure you're giving yourself the best chance to do work at the latter part of the curve.
2) Am I using UNIQUELY HUMAN SKILLS? 🙌
👉 You know who's not getting laid-off? The people doing the stuff that AI *can't* do - building relationships, understanding customers, and being the teammate that everyone can count on. That needs to be you!
3) Am I building RELEVANT AI SKILLS? 🦾
👉 Not just fooling around with ChatGPT - but figuring out how to do the stuff that *just wasn't possible* 4 years ago. If you know how to get more + better work done with AI as a marketer/engineer/salesperson than everyone else, you're already five steps ahead.
4) Am I creating FELLOWSHIP? 🤝
👉 Not just collecting random LinkedIn connections - but actually building deep relationships with people who want to see you succeed? At the end of the day, even in the Age of AI, people choose the people they *want* to work with. Be that person!
This SURF model is the heart of my latest book on AI-Proofing your career - because it really is about not just staying ahead of the wave, but riding it the right way. 🌊
So let us know what you're telling your students - or what you're doing yourself - in the Comments.
Because, sad to say, employers aren't waiting for us to figure this out. So it's up to us to hop on our boards and master this wave ASAP. 🏄♀️
