As you may have seen, there were two recent changes to the biggest job boards:
1) LinkedIn has moved to a new AI-based job searching system - which, while cool, makes it hard to get a handle on exactly how many jobs are available for a certain specialty
2) Indeed has removed their Boolean search filters - which means that you can no longer hone in on precise job titles via tricks like "title: product"
So when it comes to understanding exactly what's going on in the labor market, I now have a new favorite: Flexjobs!
Even though it only covers remote + hybrid roles, it still allows you to get really precise with operators like the following:
AND — to include multiple terms that must all appear in the results (e.g.,
marketing AND remote
)OR — to find results containing either term (e.g.,
writer OR editor
)NOT or - — to exclude terms (e.g.,
developer NOT junior
ordeveloper -junior
)Quotation Marks " " — to search for an exact phrase (e.g.,
"project manager"
)Parentheses ( ) — to group terms and combine operators (e.g.,
(designer OR artist) AND remote
)Title: — to find only jobs that actually have that word in the title (e.g.,
title:accounting
)
And that allows you to run comparative searches like measuring how many CorpDev jobs are available vs. PM:
